Expand Energy Northeast Appalachia Team Hits 100% Volunteer Participation Goal

February 20, 2025

Expand Energy’s Northeast Appalachia business unit recently celebrated achieving their 100% volunteer participation goal for 2024. This means all 125 Northeast Appalachia employees volunteered at least once, while 96% of employees used all their 8 hours of volunteer allotted time.

“Our team is heavily motivated by goals, and we thought it would be impactful to set a target around volunteering,” said Betty Jo Morris, Community Affairs Manager – Northeast Appalachia. “As usual, our team rose to the challenge and took every opportunity to serve our community.”

The team organized 50 philanthropy events for a total of 1,113 volunteer hours in 2024. From packaging food at Child Hunger Outreach Partners (CHOP) to assisting local schools with Envirothons and Career Days to walking dogs with the Bradford County Humane Society, our employees reflected our core values of character and collaborate as they served the communities where we operate.

This success took intentional effort. At the beginning of the year, Morris and her team put together a schedule of monthly events reflecting employees’ interests across a large scope of volunteering opportunities. To recognize participation, they also randomly selected two volunteers and donated $500 to a charity of their choice.

Morris and the Northeast Appalachia team plan to continue this volunteer goal in 2025. Each month, she shares the volunteer schedule at an all-employee meeting, allowing employees to sign up for events.

“We have the best employees, and we hope their efforts encourage other employees to participate in these worthwhile Expand for Good events,” said Morris. “It’s rewarding for employees and the communities they serve.”
